Transferring Video to DVD- use a dedicated machine not a computer!
Some LEAs are using laptop computers to burn DVDs of evidence video shot on camcorders. This method appears especially popular with those agencies that have purchased Hard Disk Drive (HDD) camcorders. The use of laptops can lead to all kinds of problems. Most contain some kind of editing software which may set off alarms with defense lawyers prompting them to want to examine your laptop. This means you may loose the use of the machine while defense "experts" examine the computer and have access to all your files. Video files by nature are very large and the size of the file may slow down the DVD burning process. We recommend that you avoid hassles by using a dedicated Multi-Function DVD recorder such as the VRD-MC5 from Sony. No editing software, it is not a computer and as a bonus you can burn DVDs of digital stills. The unit sells for $190 at Wellman & Griffith (888) 550-9488.
